Customization FAQs

  • In general, it is better if you DO NOT provide your own kit. I don’t apply any upcharge to the kits I order, and if there’s an issue with the kit I can quickly and easily see about fixing it. It also allows me to make custom nameplates to better match your jersey.

  • I’ll let you know if something is egregiously wrong, but I cannot resolve customer kit issues. You will be responsible for resolving and replacing kit issues when you provide your own.

  • In general, I try to get as good of a match as I can. This usually involves sourcing a donor jersey and manufacturing a custom nameplate to provide the absolute best result.

  • For most jerseys, the kits from Customize Sports Canada are very good. They are very friendly and easy to work with, and we’ve established a great working relationship with them. For more obscure vintage jerseys, I may reach out to other vendors like Pro Jersey Lettering. I can also source directly from a few teams, like San Jose and the Rangers.

  • If the letter comes with the kit, then no! That labor is included in the cost of putting a kit on.

  • The jersey community is vast and generally helpful. We try to reference game-worn jerseys and jerseys customized by the team’s official customizer as much as possible to get you the best result we can.

Stripping & Cleaning FAQs

  • In general, they are trashed. If the lettering is salvageable, it will be included with the return of the jersey.

  • Any set tags will be removed without exception. This keeps everyone in the ownership chain honest and straightforward, and will require no additional explanation or confusion if you ever decide to sell your jersey. In the case of anything tagged via Meigray, they will be notified that the jersey has been altered from its original state.

  • We use a few different solvents, ranging from the most basic Goof Off all the way up to heavy duty industrial chemicals. We don’t disclose the harsh stuff because it can cause serious health issues if handled improperly.

  • Yes - especially after harsh chemicals have been used. This ensure that no nasty chemicals remain that could possibly damage the jersey. Jersey hang to dry; they NEVER go in the dryer.

A basic wash is complimentary for any jersey sent in. If a jersey requires more than that to get cleaned up, then we will communicate that before any work is done.
